About Health Hotspot
Health Hotspot was created because we wanted to create a hub for minorities to look for internships, research opportunities, scholarships, and study abroad experiences. However, what sets us apart from other useful websites is that you’ll find someone who’s completed the program with our platform! You’ll be able to contact them personally through social media to learn more about their personal experiences. In healthcare fields like medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and physical therapy, minority students are severely underrepresented. We hope that the resources we share can increase the number of minorities going into healthcare professions in the near future.

How did the founders meet?
Nia and Raven participated in the same internship during the summer of 2019 at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center called SHPEP. As they spent their summer together, they created a bond that could not be broken despite their distance from each other. Nia and Raven are determined and resilient young women who aspire to break barriers in medicine. As they take on the journey of becoming physicians, they hope to inspire others to chase their dreams and become healthcare leaders. These ladies struggled in Organic Chemistry together a year ago, and now they are launching a website!
