Raven's WHY?
From my experience in an underserved and underrepresented community, I never had access to a primary care physician. Being raised by a single mother taught me many lessons of resilience and fortitude. With these experiences of loss and pain I decided that I want to pursue a career in primary care. I envision myself playing a role in addressing health disparities and understanding how social determinants of health play a role in healthcare.

Nia's WHY?
Nia has seen her mother go through many health complications at a young age because of her brain tumor. She firsthand witnessed her mother's bias and healthcare disparities as a black woman receiving care in hospitals. Nia is aware of the overwhelming shortage of primary care physicians in the United States and the need for change. Nia aspires to run her non-profit mobile clinic, which will serve underserved and rural areas. She wants this mobile clinic to provide low cost/ free wellness checks, mammograms, and screenings. Nia also intends to obtain her MPH to help create programs and policies to reduce and eliminate health care disparities.
